or give her a call at 832-656-0731. We will be sailing on the Carnival Breeze from Galveston heading to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel on JANUARY 8, 2017 which gives you plenty of time to book your cruise and save. We will bring the two HF radios to be installed on the Lido deck again and anticipate another fun filled year of making many contacts, lots of new friends and seeing old friends and we would love to have you join us. The prices are the best in years. Also, don't forget Debbie treats you to many "freebies" during the week too and we always have a couple of interesting presenters as well.
THANKS TO OUR 2017 SPONSORS -- BOB (W5UQ) AND ELVA (KG5HIE) HARDIE OF EXPERT LINEARS AMERICA OF MAGNOLIA, TX. 281-259-7877.
April 2015 brought another successful MPMT Ham Cruise! This was our 4th voyage and filled with lots of new folks as well as many of our “original ham family”. We had 28 total passengers with 13 first timers. We began our weekend with many of us staying at the Inn at the Water Park in Galveston and having dinner together that evening. We were shuttled over to the Magic Sunday morning and gathered for our first meeting onboard shortly after departure. This year we travelled from Galveston on the Carnival Magic to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel enjoying warmer weather than in the past. April is a very different cruising experience. The ship was very full and we found the excursions more crowded than usual, however, we all enjoyed ourselves as we created many new memories and made lots of new friends. The group presented Debbie and Lance with a gift certificate and treated them to dinner at the steakhouse which was awesome. We made approximately 1,000 regular and DX contacts all over the world and one of our group even made contact with two aeronautical mobiles who had heard about our cruise. As always, the captain and crew, including the engineers and other ship personnel assisted our group and we are very grateful to Shazia for all her help and making us feel special. Our presenters this year were Walt Ordway, K1DFO, who updated us on his contributions to digital cinematography and George Pease, K30GP, who presented a very interesting program on amateur’s assistance in storm emergencies as well as an update on the mining project from Jens Schumann, DM2KJ. As always, our Maritime Chaplain, George Schmidt, WA4GDB, blessed our voyage. Congratulations to Becky Paul, KG5FBZ and Carolyn Hink, KK4NOL (George Schmidt’s special lady) for making their first HF contacts, all of which were DX contacts. We handed out prizes and discussed our next voyage at our final meeting Saturday afternoon. Since the Magic will be sailing away in the spring of 2016, this was our final ham cruise aboard her, but we are looking forward to January 2017 when we will sail aboard her sister ship the Carnival Breeze and hope to have many old and new friends sailing with us as we set sail from Galveston on MPMT Ham Cruise 5.
